Who we are
Mazooka is made by Deacon Corn Soft. We are responsible for this policy and for the data described here. For anything about your privacy, write to privacy@deaconcornsoft.net.
Playing offline
Everything stays on your device: your settings, progress and records, achievements, saved mazes (blueprints), your Daily results, a run in progress, and a log of the game’s own errors. We never see any of it. Deleting the game deletes it, and Settings > Data > Reset progress erases your progress and keeps your settings. With Online on, it erases the copy in your online account too.
The error log is only for support: the Copy error log button on the About page puts it on your clipboard (with the game version, your OS and device model) so you can paste it into an email to us. The game never sends it.
Playing online (opt-in)
Online is off until you turn it on in Settings > Data. When it is on:
A guest account. The game makes a random id for this device (not your phone’s hardware or advertising id) and signs in with it to our game server, which creates a guest account for it. We do not ask for your email, real name, age, location, contacts or photos.
Your name and level go to your opponent. Your level and League title (for example “Pro”) are shown to the player you are matched with. The name you choose goes only to a friend in a room joined by code (and to your friends, see Friends and invites below); a stranger from Quick match sees “Runner” and a number made from your account instead, and you see theirs the same way.
Your opponents are remembered on your device only. The game keeps each opponent’s display name and your record against them on this device, to show it before a rematch. It never sends this anywhere.
The moves of a match go to your opponent, and a Quick match’s moves are kept for 30 days. During a match the commands of both players travel to the other phone through our server. For a Quick match, which counts for trophies, each phone also sends the moves of the match (both players’ commands, the match’s seed and game version) to our player service, so we can check the result; we delete them after 30 days or when you delete your account. Rooms by code and matches against a bot are not stored.
Match results go to our player service (api.deaconcornsoft.net) to give you XP and levels, and, for a Quick match, trophies: the match id, both players’ account ids, the time, who won and each player’s trophy count before and after. Your level is stored with your account. The match records are deleted after 30 days.
Trophies. Your trophy count, your highest division and a record of each month are stored with your account on our player service, so the Online page can show your division. Only a Quick match against another player changes them; rooms, friends and bots never do. They are deleted with your account.
Your progress is saved to your online account (cloud save), so that it comes back after a reinstall and, with a linked account, on a new device: your best runs, scores and stars, your challenge, Daily, season and Attack & Defend records, your achievements, your saved mazes (blueprints, with the names you give them), the mazelings you have discovered and the tutorial you finished. It is stored with your account on our game server, where only your account can read or change it, and it is merged with what each device has, so nothing earned is lost. Your settings, a run in progress, the error log, play stats and your record against other players are not part of it. Reset progress erases its records too; deleting your account deletes it.
Game Center and Sign in with Apple (optional). In Settings > Data > Link account you can link your Game Center player or your Apple ID to your online account, so that you can get it back on a new device. We ask Apple for no email and no name: we receive only an id that is private to this game and keep it with your account. If you link Sign in with Apple, the game also sends our server a one-time code that Apple gives it; the server exchanges it with Apple at once and keeps the resulting Apple token (encrypted) only to revoke your Apple sign-in when you delete your account. On a new device, linking brings back the online account with its saved progress. If you play on iPhone or iPad with Game Center signed in, the game also reports your unlocked achievements to Game Center; it never reads anything back from it.
Blocking and reporting. After an online match you can block your opponent or report them (an offensive name, quitting or stalling on purpose, or suspected cheating). A block is stored with your account on our server and on your device, so that you are never matched with that player again; Settings > Data > Unblock all removes your blocks. A report is stored on our server with your account and contains the reported player’s account id, the reason you chose, the match, the name your screen showed for them, the time and the game version. Only Deacon Corn Soft can read it; the reported player is not told who reported them. We delete a report once we have handled it, and at the latest after 12 months. If we find that a player broke the rules, we can ban their online account.
Friends and invites. Online > Friends gives you a friend code: your online account’s id, written in letters and digits. There is no search by name, so only someone you gave the code to can send you a friend request; you accept, decline, remove or block them (a block ends the friendship). Your friends and requests are stored with your account on our server (Nakama) and deleted with it. A friend can invite you to a match: our server checks that you are friends, limits how often one player can invite, and stores a notification with the room code and the inviter’s name until the game has shown it to you or ten minutes have passed. The game asks our server for your notifications while it is open. Your record against each friend stays on your device.
Your name for friends. While you have a friend or a friend request, and “Friends can see my name” is on, the name you chose in Settings (or “Runner” and a number) is stored in your account’s display name so that your friends see it. Our server software can show an account’s display name to any signed-in player who knows the account id, which friends, people you gave the code to and opponents of your matches do, so while it is stored a person you played could read it with a modified app. With no friend and no request, or with the switch off, we clear it. Strangers in Quick match and everyone on the Daily board still see only “Runner” and a number.
Invites when the app is closed (iPhone and iPad, opt-in). If you turn this on, Apple’s push service gives the game a device token, which the game sends to our server. We keep it with your account only to wake your phone when a friend invites you, through Apple’s Push Notification service; the notice says who invited you. Turning it off, or deleting your account, deletes the token.
Your Daily result goes to the Daily board, so you can see your place: the date, your score, your stars and how many waves you reached, with your account. Everyone on the board is shown as “Runner” and a number, never a chosen name. The board keeps your best result of each day for 14 days.
Like any internet service, our servers see your IP address while you are connected; we do not keep it with your account. All of this travels encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSocket). Our servers run at Hetzner and connect through Cloudflare, which process data only for us. Apple’s push service carries invite notices if you turned them on. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Play stats (opt-in)
Play stats are off until you turn them on (Settings > Data, or the card after your first run). When they are on, once a day the game sends our player service a list of counts from the days before, such as “2 Easy runs on Classic ended between waves 11 and 15” or “1 Daily finished with 2 stars”, with the game’s version, the kind of device (iPhone, Android, PC or browser), the week and the language in use.
It sends no id of any kind (not your guest account, not a device or advertising id), no names, no times of day and no location. The server adds the counts to totals and does not keep what your device sent or your IP address, so nobody, us included, can find one player’s counts. Turning Play stats off stops sending and deletes the counts waiting on your device. We use the totals only to balance and improve the game.
Links that leave the game
The Privacy policy button opens this page in your browser. Message and Share open your phone’s own Messages app or share sheet with a text you can read first; you choose whom to send it to. The game does not see your contacts or your messages.
Crash reports
On phones and tablets, if you have chosen to share analytics with Apple or Google, they may pass anonymous crash reports on to us under their own privacy policies. We use them only to fix bugs. You can switch this off in your device’s privacy settings.
Deleting your data
On our server: Settings > Data > Delete account deletes your guest account, its level and XP, its saved progress, its match results and the moves of its Quick matches, its trophies, its links to Game Center or Apple (and the Apple token kept to revoke your sign-in, which we revoke with Apple first), your friends, requests and invite notices, your push token, the players you blocked, the reports you sent and its Daily board results, in every Deacon Corn Soft game, and turns Online off. Your progress on this device stays. You can also email privacy@deaconcornsoft.net with the account id that Settings > Data shows, and we delete it within 30 days.
On your device: deleting the game deletes everything else. On PC, the game’s files stay in your user data folder until you delete them.
We keep a guest account, its saved progress, its trophies and its match results until you delete them or ask us to, or until we shut the online service down; the match records and the moves of a Quick match are deleted after 30 days. Daily board results are deleted after 14 days, and with the account. Reports are deleted once handled and at the latest after 12 months, also when they are about an account that was deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or KVKK), you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to its use. Write to privacy@deaconcornsoft.net; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Mazooka does not ask anyone’s age, shows no ads and has no chat. Online play and Play stats are off until someone turns them on, and strangers only ever see a generated “Runner” name.
Changes
If Mazooka starts doing something new with your data, we update this page and the date at the top before that version ships. Our general website policy is here.
